Featured Fall Events at the Oregon Zoo:
* Predators of the Serengeti - The Oregon Zoo's Predators of the Serengeti exhibit features nose-to-whisker views and expansive naturalistic environments for some of Africa's most endangered carnivores. The nearly 2.5-acre exhibit is also home to red-billed hornbills, fierce invertebrates (insects, spiders and scorpions) and an African rock python. As you look at these fascinating creatures, you realize that predators come in all sizes, from the mighty lion to the venomous tarantula.
* Elephant Program - If there were an elephant capital of North America, it would likely be located at the Oregon Zoo. Twenty-seven Asian elephants have been born here since 1962, establishing the zoo as one of the foremost elephant-breeding facilities in the world. The history of the zoo is intimately intertwined with its elephants.
* Black Bear Ridge - An agile black bear makes his way up a steep slope; another bear basks lazily in the sun alongside a dry streambed. Nearby, a pair of bobcats naps in a hollow log. Black Bear Ridge allows visitors to experience these reclusive animals in their natural setting.
* The SimEx-Iwerks Simulation Theatre - is a high-action animated ride that uses computer-controlled hydraulics to move the audience in synchronization with the actions on the screen.

Featured Fall Events at OMSI:
*SCREAM! FEATURING GOOSEBUMPS! THE SCIENCE OF FEARScream! Featuring Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear begins with the Fear Challenge Course, where visitors can face four common fears in a safe environment. The first challenge, Fear of Animals, dares guests to reach into concealed terrariums that might be the home of creepy-crawly creatures. In the next room, Fear of Electric Shock, visitors may feel their heart pounding as they anticipate getting zapped by a jolt of electricity. In Fear of Loud Noises visitors test this innate fear that helps keep us out of harm’s way. Finally, the Fear of Falling challenge allows guests to experience a sudden loss of support and then watch a video recording of their reaction to the backwards drop. Oct. 10, 2009-Jan. 3, 2010.
* *OMNIMAX - Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure - this fascinating film follows the dramatic and savage lives of a butterfly and praying mantis from birth to their fateful encounter in the jungles of Borneo. Along the way, we meet an assortment of amazing creatures, from thorn bugs and leafcutter ants to tarantulas and dueling rhinoceros beetles.
* Kendall Planetarium - is a unique environment that blends art, science, fantasy, and fun. The largest and most technologically advanced planetarium in the Pacific Northwest, Kendall Planetarium features educational and entertaining multimedia presentations on astronomy and space science.
